In April of 2000, Living Outside The Box became one of the first and only national conference events to explore the binary gender system as well as the creative and exciting ways people are breaking out of that box to lead more honest and fulfilling lives. Using innovative workshops, compelling academic panels, a diverse group of nationally known artists and speakers, and kick-ass music, the 2000 conference ended with changed hearts and rave reviews. But we're just getting started. Fueling the Fires of Progressive Change, the 2001 event, will expand the fun and excitement started last April. Again the conference will provide an innovative forum for the creative ideas and empowering visions of our community, and the chance to learn from those who are using the pursuit of gender freedom to combat the roots of racism, sexism, classism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia and other social injustices. The message: No one gets left behind. The 2001 Living Outside The Box will open minds, challenge assumptions, and provide each person the tools for progressive change within themselves and their communities. Changing the world was never this much fun!
